Will 2010 Be YOUR Year?

Like I was saying, there are universal laws in this world that are equally as powerful for everyone, regardless of your faith or belief values.

Let me share with you the one single experience that was so profound that it changed my life forever and could very well change yours as well.

A friend was doing a home study course on life coaching and for them to get the accreditation they had to have a subject go through 2 interviews. They asked if I’d help out.

Being the obliging fella I am I said yes and we set up the first call. It was all you’d expect on a life coaching type call, probing questions, recalling ‘happiness’ moments and all manner of deep and meaningful stuff.

Anyway, he came to the one single question that would change my life forever. It stopped me in my tracks.

“Imagine you are 90 years old and you’re looking back over your life. What is it you would change today to make sure you had no regrets?”

One thing came to mind immediately. Something I’d been wrestling with for quite some time.

He then asked me to list 5. The first 3 were easy. For me the other 2 were harder and I had to think a little and they were just “fillers” to keep the man happy.

I had actually heard this question before but there must have been something in the timing that made it so powerful at that point in time…

What is it for you?

“Imagine that you are 90 years old and you’re looking back over your life”

“What is it you would change today to make sure you had no regrets?”

“What are the top 5 things for you?”

The simple act of declaring this, in writing, to the world and before the universe is the first positive step in making it happen. That one single act of articulating it openly could be the act that brings it to pass.

Whether you believe that or not I do know this. I’ve made many New Year’s resolutions before, same as you I’m sure.

I’ve had the resolve when I said them for them to come about, but they rarely did. The conviction in my mind was so strong yet I wasn’t able to make it happen. My heart was sincere yet I wasn’t able to follow through. I was “oh so passionate” but I couldn’t pull it together. For many of us we have these grand plans, heart’s desires, dreams, visions and passions yet it can all seem so far away that it almost becomes an impossibility. We can become disillusioned and put in the “too hard” basket.

I was getting tired of making ‘false promises’ to myself, let alone anyone else. To achieve what you have never achieved before will take an act of doing something different.

It’s like the definition of insanity – to do the same thing in the same way over and over yet for us to expect a different result has to be insane… right? We need to break the pattern.

So what of my top 5?

The first 3 have now come to pass. I’ve achieved them… And these were big milestones in my life.

To be totally upfront with you, 1 of those 3 I never thought I’d actually achieve. Of course I was hopeful but it was almost some distant dream like “That would be really nice but I can’t really see it happening”.

If I hadn’t taken that first step it probably never would have. What’s your first step?

There are ways to do that that make it infinitely more powerful and we’ll share that with you later
